Guida · Colloqui tecnici in inglese
- “Just to make sure I understand, …”Per essere sicuro di aver capito, …
- “Could you give me an example of …?”Mi fai un esempio di …?
- “Should I assume that …?”Posso dare per scontato che …?
- “Are we optimizing for latency or for cost?”Conta di più la latenza o il costo?
- “Let me think about that for a second.”Fammi pensare un attimo.
- “I’ll think out loud, so you can follow my reasoning.”Ragiono ad alta voce, così puoi seguirmi.
- “My first idea would be …, but let me check if it works when …”La mia prima idea sarebbe …, ma verifico se funziona quando …
- “Let me take a step back.”Faccio un passo indietro.
Confrontare alternative
- “One option is …; another is …”Un’opzione è …; un’altra è …
- “The main trade-off is …”Il compromesso principale è …
- “This approach is simpler, but it doesn’t scale as well.”Questo approccio è più semplice, ma scala peggio.
- “It depends on … If …, I’d go with …; otherwise, …”Dipende da … Se …, sceglierei …; altrimenti, …
- “Given these constraints, I’d choose …, because …”Con questi vincoli sceglierei …, perché …
Raccontare il tuo contributo e i risultati
Usa “I” per le cose che hai fatto tu e chiudi con un numero, se ce l’hai.
- “My role was to …”Il mio compito era …
- “I was responsible for …”Ero responsabile di …
- “I proposed …, and the team agreed to try it.”Ho proposto …, e il team ha accettato di provarlo.
- “As a result, … went from … to …”Di conseguenza, … è passato da … a …
- “We measured it by …”L’abbiamo misurato con …
Mostra invece come ci arriveresti.
- “I haven’t used that directly, but I’ve worked with …, which is similar.”Non l’ho usato direttamente, ma ho lavorato con …, che è simile.
- “I’m not sure, but my guess would be …, because …”Non ne sono sicuro, ma ipotizzerei …, perché …
- “Let me correct what I said earlier: …”Correggo quello che ho detto prima: …
- “Good point, I hadn’t considered that.”Giusta osservazione, non ci avevo pensato.
- I’m working here since two years.I’ve been working here for two years.
- Actually, I work at a fintech company.Currently, I work at a fintech company.“Actually” significa “in realtà”, non “attualmente”.
- Eventually, we could add a cache. If needed, we could add a cache.“Eventually” significa “alla fine”, non “eventualmente”.
- I controlled the logs.I checked the logs.“Control” significa gestire o comandare; per verificare si usa “check”.
- It depends from the traffic. It depends on the traffic. In inglese si dice “depend on”.
- Can you explain me the requirements? Can you explain the requirements to me?“Explain” non regge direttamente la persona.
- Can I make a question?Can I ask a question?Le domande si “chiedono”: “ask”, non “make”.
- We discussed about the design. We discussed the design.“Discuss” non vuole “about”.
- I need more informations.I need more information.Information, feedback e software non hanno plurale.
Come usarle
Ripeti cambiando i dettagli dell’esempio, così ti abitui a usarle in risposte diverse.
